Traveller's Workout

Are you a frequent traveler? Do you stay in hotels often and feel bad about not moving enough during your trips? Are you one of us who never (and ever!) uses the hotel gym even though they’re always there? Well you’re not alone! In this blog we will provide tips on how to exercise in even the most compact hotel rooms and utilise various hotel facilities (if available). Furthermore, we will recommend how to navigate around the open buffets and room service menus to ensure you don’t sway off your diet course and compliment your hotel training to maximise physiological benefits of exercise & diet.



Step 1: Make sure to pack your FZYO equipment with you (Including your Aqua Training Bag) 


We recommend you pack all your ‘Resistance Bands’, ‘Therapy Bands’, ‘ Glute Bands’, ‘Massage Ball Set’ and ‘Aqua Training Bag’. Make sure to keep your bands in their own sacks to protect them from damage. Also ensure that your Aqua Training Bag is emptied and its pump is with you! 

All of these items should comfortably fit into a standard backpack all together so no more excuses for not working out when traveling! And voila, you’re ready! Safe travels!



 

Step 2: Explore your hotel and it’s health & wellness facilities 


Most hotels have fitness facilities but let’s be honest… They’re mostly tiny, demotivating and filled with machines. But this doesn’t mean that you cannot make the most out of them. Bringing your FZYO equipment with you will do the trick and maximise your workout experience in these spaces. So first, explore these facilities, beforehand online if possible, you can plan ahead and avoid wasting your precious time standing in a windowless room with awkward machines. 


Option 1: Your accommodation has a fitness facility and you’d like to use it

    • Any machine that has a sturdy pole/base can be the anchor for your resistance bands/therapy bands and can allow you to perform any pull and push exercises
Combining your new FZYO exercise equipment with gym machines and free weights is an amazing way to maximise your gains and keep you engaged long term 

Option 2: Your accommodation doesn’t have a fitness facility (or it sucks) but you still want to exercise

    • The hotel room can become your new playground. Our door anchor allows you to create a gym-like space wherever you are and all you have to do is place it safely and lock the doors for extra security. Attaching any of our bands to the anchor will create opportunities for pull and push exercises mentioned above. 
    • Fill your Aqua Training Bag and enjoy the benefits of up to 25 kg of weights and/or instability exercises.
    Any bodyweight exercise that you know of, can be advanced with our bands and create ‘progressive overload’ to enhance your gains
    Step 3: Schedule your workout without compromising your other travel plans

    HINT: Try to schedule before your meal time so that you can proceed with proper nutrition intake straight after your workout and maximise your gains

     

    Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, make sure to do some sightseeing and visit all the local attractions. Working out will enhance all those experiences since you’ll have elevated serotonin and endorphin levels which will uplift your mood and encourage you to do more activities. But make sure your workout scheme doesn’t prevent you from these activities! Life is beautiful and balancing everything is very important.

     

     

    Step 4: Hold yourself accountable!


    Research shows that most people abandon their newly found fitness motivations within a month due to various reasons. One of the biggest reasons is the lack of self-efficacy and motivation. Personal trainers usually prevent this dip in motivation but they won’t be with you during your travels. Therefore, it's up to you to hold yourself accountable and push through when you don’t feel like exercising. Even though you know that you’ll be feeling great afterwards, most of us find excuses to postpone. Once may be okay but it’s a big pitfall when it becomes a habit.     Think of the same when working out. Pack your favourite exercise apparel next to your FZYO equipment and whip them up quickly whenever you want to exercise. We guarantee that you’ll be zoned in and your energy levels will spike as your brain will immediately switch to training mode.
